CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY
FOR NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL BUILDINGS AT LA JOLLA COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL
July 5, 2005
Construction is now underway for the new Middle School classroom
buildings at La Jolla Country Day School (LJCDS), located
at 4490 Genesee Boulevard in La Jolla. The new 30,000 square
foot Middle School project represents the first phase of a
nine-phase master plan update of the 27-acre campus owned
and operated by LJCDS, a private K-12 college-prep institution
dating back to 1961. B&G Consultants was selected by LJCDS
in early 2004 to provide project and construction management
services for the overall Middle School building project, which
includes on-site relocation of the Kindergarten complex, campus-wide
utility infrastructure upgrades and a new synthetic football/soccer
field. The new Middle School site and buildings were designed
by McGraw Baldwin Architects and will be constructed by Bilbro
Construction Company. The Middle School site is located in
the heart of the overall campus and consists of 1.5-acres
of green landscaping. The buildings are each two-story steel
and masonry structures and have been designed to accommodate
web-based technology as well as traditional learning techniques.
The Middle School project is budgeted at $7.5 million and
is scheduled for completion in August 2006.
B&G Consultants has also been retained by LJCDS to manage
their new $12 million Academic Center and Library (ACL) project.
The ACL project represents phase two of their new 9-phase
campus master plan. Design of the ACL is now underway; construction
is scheduled to begin in June 2006 and complete in August
2007.
