SEMPRA ENERGY TO HAVE B&G CONSULTANTS MANAGE THEIR NEW METRO MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS BUILDING PROJECT.

SEMPRA Energy, parent company of San Diego Gas & Electric Company, has retained the services of B&G Consultants to provide Project and Construction Management services for the design and construction of their new Metro Maintenance and Operations facility project. When completed in April 2007 the project will consist of a 32,000 square foot, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified office building. The two-story, masonry and steel framed building, designed by Richard Yen & Associates, will house SDG&E administrative, maintenance and dispatch service personnel who will service the eastern half of San Diego County. The engineering team supporting Richard Yen & Associates includes TKG Consulting Engineers (electrical, mechanical and plumbing), Hope Engineering (structural), Partners & Associates (civil engineering) and Ridge Landscape Architects. The general contractor is Consolidated Construction Services, Inc. The location of the new building will be at SDG&E’s Metro facility, a 15.5 acre site, which has been in constant operation by the utility since the mid-1950’s. The total construction value of the new project is $10 million, which includes site work as well as the rehabilitation of several of the existing office and maintenance buildings at the Metro campus. Design and permitting will be completed in December 2005 and construction is anticipated to get underway in January 2006 with an anticipated 15-month construction schedule.

SEMPRA Energy has relied upon B&G Consultants since 1992 to provide project and construction management services on over 60 projects, including the recently completed Mission Skills and Eastern Operations buildings, and corporate offices at both their downtown San Diego and Century Park headquarter facilities.
