SDSU FOUNDATION SELECTS B&G CONSULTANTS AS CM FOR SORORITY ROW HOUSING PROJECT

In July 2004 San Diego State University Foundation (SDSUF) selected B&G Consultants to be their Construction Manager for their new Sorority Row housing project. SDSUF is a private development agency responsible for developing projects adjacent to the San Diego State University campus. Sorority Row will be located on College Avenue one block south of Montezuma Way and will consist of 70 apartment units, five sorority chapter houses and a common recreational building (four stories total) located over a two-level, subterranean parking structure for 175 cars. The total construction value is estimated at $19+ million. As of June 1, 2005 the construction drawings were completed and submitted to the City of San Diego for plan check and permitting. The general contractor selection process is now underway with an intended construction start date in September 2005 and a planned 16-month overall construction schedule. The architect for the project is The Steinberg Group out of Los Angeles. As part of their Construction Management responsibilities B&G will oversee all aspects of the construction process, including preconstruction estimating, contractor solicitation and selection, contract formulation and negotiation, construction and contract administration, and SDSUF relocation management.

The Sorority Row housing project is the second project that B&G Consultants has performed for SDSUF. Previously, B&G provided preconstruction and cost estimating services for the Aztec Inn project, a four-story, 106-room hotel project that caters to San Diego State University functions.
