B&G TO MANAGE NEW CLASSROOM PROJECT FOR ST. AUGUSTINE HIGH SCHOOL

St. Augustine High School, a private catholic-based all-boys high school has selected B&G Consultants to be their project manager for their new Phase I Classroom Building project. B&G will oversee all aspects of the design, construction and fit-out of the project, including vendor team selection, contract management, and oversight of the design and construction process. The school has been continuously operating since 1927 at their 7.5-acre campus located on Nutmeg Street, between 32nd and 33rd Streets immediately east of Balboa Park in downtown San Diego. In December 2003 the City Council of San Diego unanimously approved the school’s new three-phase master plan and Conditional Use Permit developed by Martinez + Cutri Architects. Phase 1 of the new master plan calls for a two-building, 43,000 square foot classroom facility and a 112-car subterranean parking structure valued at approximately $14 million. The design of the new facility will be California Mission style and will harmonize with existing Vasey Hall, a historically significant building designed and constructed by architect Richard Requa in the late-1920’s. Martinez + Cutri have been selected as the architect for the project and DPR Construction, Inc. will be the contractor. Completion of the construction drawings is scheduled for December 2005, and the plan check and building permit process should be completed in early 2006. Construction will commence in June 2006 and is scheduled to complete in August 2007.

As part of their ongoing campus improvement program, St. Augustine High School has also engaged B&G to provide budgeting and scheduling services for Phase 2, a new gymnasium and theatre complex, and Phase 3, new athletic facilities and additional subterranean parking facilities.
